My Travel Agent Life
Travel has been my obsession since I was a very little girl! I was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia and I lived there until the age of 25. So I can fluently speak Croatian and Slovene. One of the most picturesque and friendly countries in the world, Slovenia instilled in me a passion for the outdoors, mountains, the sea, amazing food, and the simple life. I can thank my parents for introducing me to the travel. I started traveling on my own when I was in high school. My best friend and I would save all year and the minute school was out, put on the backpack! The first time, we flew to Australia for a month. A year later, we spent a month in Indonesia. We flew to the United States, Cambridge, England, and other far-flung corners of Europe. I am a military spouse serving alongside my husband now for over fifteen wonderfully stressful years! We have two beautiful children who love traveling as much as we do. I have skied the French, Italian, Austrian, German, and Slovene Alps. I have hiked Cinque Terre and Yosemite, scuba dived the Seychelles, biked Barcelona, and adventured across Australia. I have relaxed on Greek, Croatian, Italian, French, Spanish, Israeli, Australian, Asian, and African beaches. I have shopped the back alleys of Trieste, Paris, Rome, Milan, Prague, Tel Aviv, and Munich. I have eaten excellent home cooked food literally prepared along the Croatian roadside and on a small beach in the Seychelles cooked by locals as it was caught, and by world-class chef’s in Michelin starred eateries. In short, I love the travel life! I am fluent is Slovenian, Serbo-Croatian, French, Italian, English and I can speak conversational German. I lived in Eastern Europe for twenty-five years, Italy for two years and in Stuttgart, Germany for four years. I attended University in Portoroz, Slovenia and received my Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management while working for the oldest, and most respected, hotel and conference center in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I worked for the prestigious Pebble Beach Resort in California, and received my Master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in International Relations.
As a military spouse, moving homes and changing jobs every two years was not where I saw myself, so I took and entrepreneurial leap of faith and decided to focus on what I was born to do and started Incognito Global Travel. I met my husband while he was stationed in Northern Italy for the U.S. Air Force. It turned out he loved to travel as much as I did. We lived there for two more years and traveled all over Italy (from Capri, where we got engaged, to Amalfi, and Sorrento in the south to Florence, Cinque Terre, and Bologna in the center, to Milan, Venice, and Trieste in the north), France and Austria (rekindled my love for skiing), and Germany (Oktoberfest and hiking). One of my great joys was taking my husband and showing him “my Slovenia.” We got married in a small church on an island in Lake Bled, Slovenia and had the reception in one of the historic hotels along the banks of the Lake. I planned the entire wedding and all the travel for over one-hundred family and friends from all corners of Europe and United States. Now, I want to bring my “real-world” love of travel to others; helping people experience all the amazing people, places, and cultures the world has to offer.
